Fabric SuperBowl

I just got back from a HUGE fabric show in Houston. I was in HOG heaven!!! Minkies and cottons and Cheniles, oh my! PLUS, I went with some amazing new friends. They are a talented mother daughter team. They own Little Somethings.

I wished I had taken pics, but I was so overwhelmed at all the fabric vendors and the fun stuff that was there. I have been COMPLETELY inspired to start working again.

Thanks ladies for a wonderful time in Houston.

Domestic Diva

Look at the Domestic Diva!!!! This was a gift that I helped a friend create. I came up with the Domestic Diva emblem on the front. I am going to start offering these in my shop. They were a LOT of fun to make and it was a BIG hit for the hostess with the mostest. Check out http://www.elleandmel.com/ to purchase your domestic diva apron!

Serendipity

Serendipity is a wonderful phenomenon that happens in life. Its moments in ones life where the thing that you so desperately want seems to work itself out without much effort or strain on your part.
I LOVE those moments. I had been asking for help in my business, someone that is passionate and really knows what they are doing to help guide me.

Well I met not just one person... but two beautiful women. They are the owners of "little something by Erica" if you haven't visited their site. You MUST. They are hip and chic and moms all rolled into one neat package. They are as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside. And I know that you are going to love what they are offering the baby market.

Here's their website. Stop by, look around, and by all means SHOP!!!!

These are two very savvy ladies, with style and panache to spare.

Forrest Gumping...

So as I explained to someone last night, I have kinda "forrest-gumped" my way through life. I realized that with the last post, I never really explained much about myself.... So I am giving it the short, bulleted, version for those of you like myself that struggle with adult ADD and all things shiny.

  • I went to school to become an animator. Something I had known that I wanted to do since I was 6 years old.
  • College came along, the real world hit... and I listened to some bozo that said animators didn't make any money
  • So I decided... if I can't do, then I'd teach... plus it is a steady paycheck.
  • After 5 years of telling kids to follow their dreams and feeling like such a hypocrit for not doing it myself, I quit and cashed in my teacher retirement and went back to school to become an animator
  • I worked for a great place in Irving called DNA Productions. The claim to fame? Jimmy Neutron.
  • After working on The Ant Bully the studio experienced a down-turn and had to layoff the majority of the studio... since I like to fit in... I was one of the many let go
  • Then I found out I was expecting my second child.... had to get another job before I started to show.
  • Found another job in Dallas as an animator... 7 months into the pregnancy, the funding got pulled from the job and *FLUSH* there went another job.
  • So... all feedup and nowhere to go... I decided to team up with my mom and start elle&mel.
  • Elle is short for Elizabeth and Mel is short for Melissa. we have over 40 years experience between the two of us. If you'd like to see what we are up to... Please check out our site.
  • Well that's the short and long of it. As you can see I ate the box of chocolates.

Love, Life and tons of chocolate!!!

The beginning or the end....

So here I am joining the mass of web users who "blog". I remember the first time I heard "blog" and I thought "what the h**l is a 'blogggg'." I was in a meeting at a very cool Animation Studio when our tech savvy guy suggested we create a WIKI-pedia of our own and then went on to explain that and the "blog". Boy did I feel stupid. That was only a few years ago!!! Now you hear about everyone under the sun has their own blog. I think even Jesus has one...

Anywho... here I am trying to figure out what to say and who would care. So, I send this out into cyber-space (do they even call it that anymore??!!) And see what comes back. All good I hope, cause all good is what I am sending out.
